It’s not easy navigating through a Houston Astros lineup that includes Jeremy Peña, Alex Bregman, Yordan Alvarez and Kyle Tucker, along with new addition José Abreu. The Chicago White Sox starters have been up to the task for the first three games of the season.Lucas Giolito allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits with six strikeouts and one walk in five innings in front of 37,519 on Saturday at Minute Maid Park. He didn’t factor in the decision in the 6-4 Sox loss.Tucker broke a 3-all tie with a two-out RBI single against reliever José Ruiz in the seventh as the Sox dropped their second straight.“Obviously the outcome is not what we want, but I like the way we played,” manager Pedro Grifol said. “If we play like that, we’re going to be all right.”It starts with the starters.Giolito followed Thursday’s Dylan Cease gem and Friday’s strong outing from Lance Lynn with a solid performance.“Dylan set the tone ...Red Sox notebook: All is forgotten with Adam Duvall’s big swing of the bat

When Adam Duvall stepped to the plate Thursday night with a chance to win the game with one swing of the bat, he struck out and the Red Sox rally fell short.Given a second chance on Saturday, Boston’s new centerfielder didn’t miss his shot. After Orioles left fielder Ryan McKenna dropped a routine fly ball that would have ended the game, Duvall crushed a two-run, walk-off home run into the Monster seats to finish off a wild 9-8 Red Sox win over the Orioles.“When it hit, I wasn’t sure if it was a homer or not,” he said of the ball, which landed right at the end of the top of the Monster.“And then, I saw them stop going for it, I saw the lights start to flicker. I mean, I was hoping that it was gonna stand as a homer, but I felt like I was still kind of running it out because I wasn’t sure.”Duvall finished 4-for-5 and fell a single short of the cycle. He tripled in his first at-bat and scored Boston’s first run of the game, crushed two ho...Chris Sale’s mixed bag debut couldn’t keep Red Sox down in epic comeback victory

April showers turned into a Sale storm on Saturday afternoon.Spoiler alert: not the good kind.Chris Sale’s first home game since the 2021 ALCS was a mixed bag from the start. He was a walking contradiction (sans any actual walks) in the first inning, striking out three batters interspersed with an early 3-0 lead for Baltimore Orioles on a single to Adley Rutschman and a pair of home runs. The velocity was there, but his command was all over the place.Zack Kelly was already warming in the bullpen during the third inning, but Sale managed to get out of the frame by striking out Ramon Urías for the third time.In three innings, he allowed seven earned runs on seven hits (three home runs), walked two, struck out six, and hit one batter. 74 of his 43 pitches were for strikes, and he got 13 swing and misses, but his command was erratic.Chris Sale's season debut, as told by Baseball Savant pic.twitter.com/fZJ9Z9ryr1— Gabrielle Starr (@gfstarr1) April 1, 2023Not an ideal debut...San Diego State going to NCAA Championship

It really helped me in the last 100 metres.”McIntosh, a 16-year-old Toronto native, set the world record in the 400-m freestyle on Tuesday’s opening night of the trials, winning the race in 3:56.08. For Sean Hughes, it’s important to talk about people with Down syndrome getting older and how individuals like him can live fulfilling and independent lives.“Just enjoy life,” said Hughes of Kitchener, Ont., who will be celebrating his 50th birthday this year.Over the last 40 years, the life expectancy for an individual with Down syndrome has increased. The Canadian Down Syndrome Society says that in 1983 the life expectancy was about 25 years. Today, it’s more than 60 years. However, there is little media representation for older adults living with Down syndrome and that’s prompted a campaign that aims to break the stereotype that people with the genetic condition don’t live into their senior years. The campaign from the Canadian Down Syndrome Society, called “Here I Am,” is a photo essay that shows 13 people who have Down syndrome between the ages of 44 and 75. NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Residents of two Connecticut areas made a troubling discovery this week: white supremacist and antisemitic flyers outside their New Haven and Hamden homes."I found this in front of my house — right in the driveway, right behind one of our cars," said Richard Brown, of Hamden. "This is a white supremacist message. It's clear when you open it up and take a look at it." Illinois café rescued from closure after harassment over drag show Brown found the flyer at his house early Thursday morning. These flyers were left on several other streets in town and the East Rock neighborhood in New Haven."There's somebody with some intent and some resources that are trying to stir up trouble. And we need to say that's not who we are and not what we stand for," New Haven resident Paul Wessel said. The flyers reference Yale MBA student, Robert Lucas, who recently proposed renaming Whitney Avenue in New Haven. The street is named after Eli Whitney, the inventor of the cotto...Lawsuit planned against Hawaiian Air over turbulent flight

HONOLULU (KHON2) — At least 12 passengers are planning to file a lawsuit against Hawaiian Airlines over a flight that hit severe turbulence and injured dozens of people. The attorney is raising questions on whether the pilot and co-pilot took the necessary precautions to avoid the injuries. Illinois café rescued from closure after harassment over drag show On December 18, 2022, Hawaiian Airlines flight 35 from Phoenix was 40 minutes from landing in Honolulu when it hit severe turbulence, sending passengers floating from their seats. Honolulu Emergency Medical Services said 20 people were taken to the hospital. An attorney who represents 12 injured passengers said the captain should have ordered all passengers and crew members to sit down and buckle up, knowing they were about to hit severe turbulence."That simply was not done on this flight — and that is what should’ve been done on this flight. And, if that had been done, then nobody would have been injured," said attorney Nomaan ...Latest news
